I had a resection of my small intestine six years ago and for the first four years, right at the time of my waking up I would feel very ill, an intense urge to run to the bathroom. It would be about five or six hours and four visits to the john before the feeling was gone, until next morning. Then the cycle would start again.
What do I do to get better? Eat bland, boring food. Forget Chinese or Mexican, those are recipes for disaster.
Don't believe your surgeon if he tells you that you will be fine after having three feet of your intestine removed. You won't.

We need a more tolerant community to conform in.
by The Rebel inas a witness i now realise how little control we really had over our life.
therefore naturally upon leaving everything became less certain.
this is because really leaving only happened when i let go of that past.

I believe as individuals we can contribute to our community, but as members in the Jehovers Witness organization we contributed nothing to our community.
They actually withdraw assets from the community. Because they tend to have low incomes, they are more likely to get all kinds of government subsidies, while withholding the talents and man power needed for defense (soldiers), science, security (police), professional work. The rest of us work extra hours that turn into more taxes for the public welfare, while JW's spend countless hours preaching, attending meetings and indoctrinating others... and when they realized they are short of money, then they go to the community's coffers to claim what they didn't earn.

Despite their false predictions aren't the JWs right? Won't the world eventually end & Paradise come?
by deegee inaren't there christian denominations who do not make false end of the world predictions but who nevertheless believe that the world will eventually end and paradise (whether in heaven or on earth) will come?.
it seems the watchtower was just jumping the gun when they made false end of the world predictions but they are nevertheless the right: the world will eventually end and paradise will come..

Why Finding the One True Religion is Impossible
by Simon injws like to think they have found the one true religion.
but like so many other religious people, it's usually the religion they were born into, the only religion they know because it's the first one they found or, at the most, one of two or three (typically the second one after they left their first / born-in faith).. the trouble is, there simply isn't enough time to explore and investigate each and everyone of the many thousands of belief systems, religions and sects around the world.. think of it this way: which is the best neighbourhood to live in where you would be most happy and most successful?
not just in the city or even the country you are in, but the entire world.. how would you ever know?

The Royal Commission inquiry doesn't fit the narrative of the Watchtower, nor its financial interests.

Revelation already fulfilled
by stockholm_Syndrome init appears to me revelation was 'fulfilled' 1st century and we are fooling ourselves to think it applies to present times .
let's start with the opening statement:.
a revelation by jesus christ, which god gave him,+ to show his slaves+ the things that must shortly take place.. hmm-- shortly take place ?

The book of Revelation is no different from Jehovah's Witnesses' books. It's all B.S. to make the believer (credulous) feel good and special, and make the BSer rich or/and powerful. These books, when there's enough support, represent a step backwards for humanity.

JW Policy Regarding "Marking" From The Nov 2016 WT
by JW_Rogue injws will deny that local needs parts are often just a way to mark those in the congregation who are deemed to be "bad association" or who don't fall in line with the elders viewpoints.
now, for the first time in a long time the wt discusses their marking policy and how it works in the nov study wt:.
recall paul’s counsel regarding disorderly ones in the congregation.

Before I married my wife, when just about everyone in the congregation knew that we were going to tie the knot, the loving elders call a speaker to give a talk in which my wife was called a STAIN in the congregation. She was never named, but the talk was directed to those dating worldly people. She was the only one doing that. Later, she was reproved because her older sister made up stuff about some sort of physical contact between us. Completely false. Good thing the circuit overseer was a reasonable man. In his visit, he asked the elders to remove the restrictions on my wife. The elders use that verse...the light get brighter... as an apology.

Angry and scared
by BlackWolf ini feel like everything that comes out of my mothers mouth is something negative and cringe worthy.
all she seems to talk about with me is how terrible and demonic our disfellowshipped relatives are, how horrible the world and holidays are, or how she is so much better and "holier than thou".
it really makes me sick sometimes.

Black wolf,
Seems that your parents are the intransigent, zealot type. Is there an elder or ministerial servant that is well respected and reasonable regarding your problem. Some JW's understand and are more patient. Sounds crazy, but you may get an ally in the congregation that may be able to placate your parents.
"I am not ready" is a good answer and a reasonable JW could help you keep your parents off your case for a while. I have known some JW's who understand quite well the statement "I am not ready"
